The Rod of Law

Little to nothing is known of the Rod, except that it holds considerable power and comes from a time before the moral races roamed this plane. Ancient scrolls dictate that the Rod was at one point broken into five pieces, which were scattered throughout the world. With a powerful wizard, one could use one piece of the shard to locate other pieces. When two pieces are fitted together, the two become a single larger piece and becomes much more magically powerful. There appears to be some correlation between the shards of the Rod of Law and the large pulsating black orbs that appear to possess dangerous magical effects.
